We stopped by a local sweet shop to try freshly made dango (sweet dumplings made from rice flour) that came in varieties sugary sweet, salty and roasted with sesame, soy and other flavours.
While there, we talked to the shop owner about Cabbage Man, a local celebrity we had heard about. Cabbage Man promotes the local cabbage business and encourages kids to eat their vegetables. Much to our surprise, Cabbage Man came out to greet us.
The green masked-man joked with us, allowing us even to try on his mask.
We realized how well-known Cabbage Man was when we saw a cardboard cutout of him at the farmers market and saw people taking pictures of themselves with his likeness.
